Dick Kotapish has participated in the URISA/GPN professional community since the late 1980s and remains active in regional geospatial professional activities.
Ohio Valley Chapter of GPN
Active involvement with the regional professional chapter supports professional development, knowledge exchange, conferences, and collaboration among GIS practitioners.
GISCorps
Volunteer service has included geospatial emergency-response work following Hurricane Katrina, international advisory activities, mapathons, and contributions to GISCorps volunteer documentation.
GeoSymposium
Great Lakes GeoSymposium
Now in its 15th year, the Great Lakes GeoSymposium was formerly known as the Northeast Ohio GIS Symposium. Dick Kotapish has been instrumental in producing and organizing the event, helping bring together GIS professionals, government agencies, educators, technology providers, and regional geospatial organizations for professional development, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
GIS Users of Northern Ohio
Dick co-founded and manages GUONO, one of the country’s longest-running regional GIS user groups, focused on information sharing, standards, professional networking, and the exchange of practical geospatial knowledge.
